The Breast Lift; also referred to as mastopexy, is an |Custom|elective, discretionary} cosmetic surgical procedure to transform the shape of the breast. The breast lift offers a solution for women who desire to transform the shape of their breasts after childbirth, weight loss, or to counter the influences of time and gravity. There are numerous alternates of this procedure, which depend on the size of the breasts and the desired results.
The formal mastopexy or full breast lift reliably presents the best shape, but it also produces the most scarring. It is stillthe preferred technique for large breasts as methods which use smaller incisions do not revise the appearance of the breast adequately for pleasing results. The formal breast lift utilizes an incision coinciding with the creases under the breasts, incisions circumscribing the aureole, and incisions from the the aureole to the bottom of the breasts. This incision forms the well knownanchor shaped scar. Extra skin is eliminated, and after the incisions are stitched back together the product is breasts that higher on the chest wall and have a refined shape.
For smaller breasts, or when less dramatic change in the form of the breasts is wanted, with diminished scarring modified breast lift techniques have been cultivated. The Benelli mastopexy is a well known variant of the modified breast lift, also referred to as “donut” mastopexy or concentric mastopexy. This method, uses the excision of a band of skin surrounding the aureole, this results in a scar that is obscured at the edge of the aureole.
