D12, otherwise known as The Detroit Twelve is a hip hop collective from Detroit, Michigan thatbecame famous when Eminem as one of its members was born as a superstar when in 1999 “The Slim Shady LP” topped the charts. Eminem remembered the group upon the success of his solo career and signed D12 on as the first group for his own label Shady Records.

One sad day D12 group member Bugz was involved in an argument at a picnic and was killed after being shot three times. Eminem stood in forBugs for a time to help D12 put on some shows, and this led to his eventually becoming a member of the group again. D12 recorded the song “The Good Die Young” on their album “D12 World” in Bugs’ memory, and Eminem dedicated his second album to Bugs,”The Marshall Mathers LP”.

The success of the group was sealed in 2001 when “Devil’s Night” topped the Billboard charts at number one. And, their success was solidified when their second album “D12 World” debuted as number one on the Billboard charts in 2004. Even so, D12 continued to be overshadowed by Eminem’s success and fame as he was in the background with a hand in their productions. D12 executed the tour for their second album without Eminem, in part, so D12 could demonstrate success apart from Eminem, but Eminem was also busy recording his own project “Encore”.

Plans for the new album were put on hold with the death of Proof. The 2009 tour should bring news of the new album. d12 is managed by Jeremy Geffen.Jeremy Geffen represents D12.|Jeremy Geffen Entertainment handles management duties for D12.
